Join us in celebrating the opening of our newest exhibition, Grounded in Grain, Washed in the Water, featuring artists Maya Freelon, Corey Alston, christa david, and Derrick Beasley. Guest-curated by Lauren Jackson Harris and presented in partnership with the Avery Research Center of African American History and Culture at the College of Charleston, Grounded in Grain, Washed in the Water explores ancestral narratives and the enduring relationships between land, water, memory, and Black life in the American South. The exhibition continues at the Avery Research Center, where additional works by Maya Freelon and christa david will be on view.
