In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month, our summer intern Amy Griner looks back on past Halsey exhibiting artists and invites the reader to explore more. So, as AAPI month starts to wane into June, let's review four Asian artists from the Halsey's archive!

Find inspiration in the work of student artists and writers. At each session of Writing Club, poets and writers from CofC’s MFA program in Creative Writing will offer a series of onsite writing prompts based on pieces from Young Contemporaries. This is an opportunity to generate your own stories and poems in a supportive, serene space, surrounded by visual art. Writing Club is free, and all are welcome.

The Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art at the College of Charleston School of the Arts is excited to announce a new Director. Michael Dickins will take the helm as Halsey Institute Director and Chief Curator on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Dickins’s leadership follows the Halsey Institute’s former director, Katie Hirsch, accepting a position as Deputy Director of Exhibitions at the Taubman Museum of Art.
